The Importance of Travel Insurance

There's always a first time for everything, and getting Travel Insurance is not exceptional. The question in today's ReiVRE: Money Talk-Travel Insurance is – "Is it important to have travel insurance?"

People travel every day, some for pleasure and some for business having the correct travel insurance is something that should never be overlooked

Imagine the build up to your holiday, you will have fun choosing your destination, you will be excited when your tickets arrive and lets face it you have probably been saving for your trip all year.

Most families only travel once a year and the holiday is something they will have looked forward to for a long time, imagine the disappointment if the holiday had to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances or worse still that some one in your family should need medical attention whilst on holiday.

If you do not have holiday insurance situations such as this would have to be paid for by you.

Having to deal with a situation like this whilst abroad can be extremely difficult and with out travel insurance you will have to sort the problems your self and will not be able to claim anything back.

If you are travelling for business reason your company may be able to provide you with sufficient holiday insurance but you will need to be sure of this before setting off. Imagine if you are travelling on behalf of your company with important documents and your luggage gets lost? If you do not have holiday insurance you will be stranded and will be able to claim back your losses.

If you are travelling in a group there are specific holiday insurance policies that will give you group cover which may be less costly than buying individual travel insurance so make sure you ask about this if travelling in a group or part of more than one.

Because group holiday insurance covered everyone in your party it is worth asking your travel insurance what would happen if one person in the group cancels their holiday.

Check all your existing policies to see if you are already covered, it will not be worth having extra holiday insurance if you are already covered.

Although travel insurance may seem pointless and another expenditure you simply do not want to pay out for in the long run the peace of mind and the cover you will have will mean you can enjoy your holiday knowing that your holiday insurance will be protecting you.

Buying your travel insurance can reduce the cost considerably as the travel insurance company will have less overheads so will be able to offer you a cheaper deal.

Once you have purchased your travel insurance always read the policy so you are aware of what you are covered for and know that it suits you and your needs if you are unsure of anything you travel insurance company will be happy to explain anything you are unsure of.
